WE COLONISED THE MOON

Sue Corke (UK) and Hagen Betzwieser (Germany) met by chance in 2008 at a bus stop whilst conducting artistic field work in Norway. Working since 2009 as WE COLONISED THE MOON their graphic art and installation projects have embodied a range of DIY production techniques within a partnership rooted in absurdism, characterized by slogans and catchphrases.

Sue Corke is a visual artist with an interest in the theatre of illustration and a background in printmaking and drawing. She recently retired from teaching in London and set up her own printmaking studio Up North and is currently working on a new book.

Hagen Betzwieser’s work is constantly shifting between different artistic disciplines. Conceptual ping-pong, filmmaking, design, science & technology are the foundation of his practice and they come along with a strong interest in the exploration of space and the unknown. In his roles as the founder of the »IAT, Institute of General Theory« he often describes himself as an »Independent Creative Operator in Post Artistic Research«.

Previous projects have included creating solutions for space waste by disguising satellites as asteroids; making fire from star light, building a solar powered solarium because »the sun dies anyway« and synthesizing THE SMELL OF THE MOON®.
