Tosin Akinkunmi

Tosin Akinkunmi is a Grenadian-Nigerian digital artist based in London, England. They illustrate a range of characters, exploring themes of self, beauty, diversity and identity influenced by their cultural background and childhood environment. Their work can be characterised by their use of cohesive colour schemes, contrast,  sharp lines and bold shapes. Tosin’s love for the visual storytelling in video games and comic books directly inspires their more graphic, edgy style of illustration.

As a self-taught artist who began honing their craft in 2018, Tosin is interested in portraiture, illustration and character creation and design, but seeks to expand into design, environments and scenes. Tosin has created promotional artwork for clients like Superdrug and Channel 4, and has been commissioned by the Tate for 2021’s Black History Month. In November 2021, Tosin joined BBH’s Unsigned Union, group dedicated to championing underrepresented and diverse talent in film, illustration and photography to allow them access to opportunities within the advertising world.
