Synopsis:
Roxana Kenjeeva’s short hand-drawn animation is a poetic meditation on the cyclical power of the Moon and its invisible yet profound influence on life on Earth. Through intricate, frame-by-frame drawings, the film traces the Moon’s phases as both a celestial phenomenon and a psychological force- shaping tides, bodies, dreams and collective memory.
Blending mythology, science and intimate storytelling, Roxana transforms the lunar cycle into a living characte- a silent witness to human transformation and rebirth. Her delicate yet meticulous animation technique mirrors the rhythm of waxing and waning, revealing how lunar gravity echoes within our emotional landscapes, biological rhythms and shifting identities.
This short film is created from visual and sonic recordings of ‘alien’ interactions in everyday London, to imagine a future landscape where different species communicate with one another, love each other and grow together. A collaboration of sound and architecture acts as a contemporary celebration and reimagination of cross-cultural landscapes.
