Bio:
Moréna Espiritual is an internationally acclaimed, trans, Afro-Indigenous performance artist and musician. A multicultural, bilingual creator influenced by their upbringing between Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and Harlem, New York, they now create art between another island their ancestors deeply cared for, Puerto Rico, and the Latin American alternative music hub CDMX.
Synopsis:
Set in a surreal, hyperbolistic reality, ‘Mi Coro’ features interviews with a variety of BIPOC voguers. They detail their failed attempts at communication with a new alien species known as the cis-heterosexuals, and the different ways this has resulted in ostracization and violence for them. With the help of a dear friend and anthropologist, they come to the conclusion that voguing has been the tool they needed to communicate with this alien species all along. We follow them on their journey of practicing said dance form in the lead up to a grand ball. The communication with the alien species has some unexpected shifts, and the dancers themselves transform in the process.
