Mika is an actor, writer and performance artist from Nottingham now based in London. Mika creates work that challenges the norm and centres the many parts of their identity. Their solo practice is rooted in devising, using different forms to tell a story and pushing the boundaries of traditional western theatre, their future work will explore horror and speculative fiction, using the genres as a portal to explore, imagine and expose.
Pink Lemonade is Mika’s debut play. It previewed at the Gate Theatre and premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019 where it was included in The Stage 18 best shows of the Fringe. The show transferred to Bush Theatre in September 2021 where it received critical acclaim and was nominated for an Offie award. Pink Lemonade is in development for TV with Balloon Entertainment and the BBC. Mika is also currently developing a new play with The Royal Court writers group.
